Please join us for the Opening Reception and help us mark 40 years of Indonesian Studies at Flinders University.
Since 1978, Indonesian at Flinders has connected generations of Australian students with Indonesia. Flinders continues to produce graduates with Indonesian qualifications who contribute strongly to Australian-Indonesian relations across a wide range of fields from the arts to defence, diplomacy to business, fisheries to finance.
The past 15 years have seen the number of young Australians seeking to learn Indonesian drop to critically low levels and universities across Australia have closed Indonesian programs; yet Indonesian at Flinders has prevailed.
In 2018 we will mark 40 years of Indonesian teaching, research, collaboration, hospitality, cultural celebrations and community engagement with a series of events that reflects the richness of this history. The program will run from April to November in collaboration with our contemporary academic and broader South Australian community.
Guests of Honour: Indonesian Consul General Heru Hartanto Subolo, Ms Liz Drysdale, Dr Keith Foulcher, Associate Professor Anton Lucas, ACICIS Consortium Director Professor David Hill AM.
