Bali, with all its natural beauty and cultural richness, has been the iconic tourist destination in Indonesia and even in Southeast Asia. Of the approximately 10.41 million foreign tourists visiting Indonesia throughout 2015, Bali is still deemed to be most favorite. Tourist arrivals to Bali, both domestic and foreign, has brought a lot of progress and prosperity to the people of Bali.
Recognizing this, the government, through the Tourism Minister Arief Yahya, has set up 10 tourist destinations as a priority to be developed in order to be at least as aligned and developed as tourism in Bali. Regional tourism destinations such as Lake Toba (North Sumatra), Belitung (Babel), Tanjung Lesung (Banten), the Thousand Islands (DKI Jakarta), Borobudur (Central Java), Mount Bromo (East Java), Mandalika Lombok (NTB), Komodo Island (NTT), Wakatobi National Park (Southeast Sulawesi), and Morotai (Maluku Utara) with each uniqueness will be put forward on Government’s promotion to prospective tourists, both domestic and foreign.
The 10 New ‘Bali’ management will be assigned to each Board of Authority whose primary task will be to build Special Economic Zones of Tourism in those areas. The Board of Authority established in each of these tourist destinations is going to build tourists amenities like hotel, resort, golf course, restaurants, convention centers, leisure parks, and various other facilities.
